Dr. Marcin Lasoń, professor at Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski University, is the Head of the Department of International Security Policy. He is a member of the Polish Society for International Studies, the Australia, New Zealand, Oceania Research Association, and the Polish National Security Society. From 2016 to 2024, he was the editor of the academic journal “Security. Theory and Practice” (ISSN 1899-6264, e-ISSN 2451-0718).
His research interests include international and national security, particularly the use of armed forces as a tool of Polish and New Zealand foreign and security policy, as well as the resistance movement in local communities during World War II in occupied Poland. He collaborates with the Polish Armed Forces and is a member of the Council of the Sprzymierzeni z GROM [Allied with GROM] Foundation. His research is interdisciplinary in nature (international relations and security studies). He completed a two-month (February–March 2017) research stay at the National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Otago in New Zealand, focusing on New Zealand’s defense and national security policy in the 21st century. This resulted in the publication of a monograph on the subject. He continues and develops research collaborations with researchers from various New Zealand centers. He is active in collaborating with external stakeholders to advance the concept of social responsibility in science. This includes joint projects with the Home Army Museum in Krakow, as well as local governments and cultural institutions at the district and municipal levels.
